Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
Is StolenNumbers free to use?

Yes, completely — searching and reporting will always be free. If you'd like to support keeping the site running, you can leave a small optional contribution. It has no effect on your listing's visibility or ranking.

Do I need a police report to list a stolen item?

No — but adding your police report reference number, if you have one, makes your listing more credible to others.

I found my stolen item listed for sale elsewhere. What now?

Use the match to identify who reported the item and reach out through our contact system. We also recommend reporting the seller's details to your local police.

What happens once I get my item back?

Mark your listing as "Recovered" in your account. It will be removed from active search results.

A listing looks false or malicious — what can I do?

Use the "Report Listing" button on any item page to flag it for review by our team.

Is my contact information visible to everyone?

No, not by default. Every listing has an anonymous contact form, so people can reach you without seeing any personal details. Adding a phone number is optional — useful mainly for businesses or authorities who prefer to call — and you can keep it hidden until someone clicks "Show number."
